Injection into the tumour

If a tumour or metastasis cannot be surgically removed but can be reached with the injection needle, mistletoe extracts can also be injected directly into the tumour ("intratumoural injection"). Before this, an initial phase with injections under the skin can take place. As mistletoe preparations have not yet been approved for this form of application, they are an off label use and therefore after information and with the consent of the patient on the responsibility of the treating physician ("informed consent")

However, there have been only a few studies on this form of application so far. In individual cases tumours were shown to decrease significantly by this. However, this intratumoural administration should only be performed by physicians experienced in it.
